Eric Walker, Conon Bridge, Scottish Highlands

 Who I Am

My name is Eric Walker and I’m fortunate to live in Conon Bridge in the Scottish Highlands.

I had a successful, and enjoyable career making whisky and am now able to do all the things I wanted to do then but just never had the time.

I’m Chair of Highlands Astronomical Society and you’ll find out more about this energetic & innovative amateur Club’s activities on this site.

In addition to being a keen amateur astronomer & astrophotographer I’m a cyclist & skier and also have two wonderful doggies which keep me entertained & sane.

 Where I Am

 What I Do

Visual Observing and Astrophotography of the dark skies from my home observatory of the Scottish Highlands are my two main specialities.  I have astronomy equipment that allows me to observe and capture images of faint night sky objects and also our own Sun & Moon.

I built a permanent 24/7 All-Sky Colour Camera fitted to the roof of my house which enables anyone using this website to “live view” the entire sky.  It’s good for showing coloured stars, constellations, some nebulae, the Milky Way, and it’s especially interesting when there are Meteor Showers, Fireballs, Aurorae (Northern Lights) and also Noctilucent Cloud displays in the summer.

Visit my Photo Gallery to see my astrophotographs and browse through the Projects section to see how to make and install an All-Sky camera, or design & 3D-print some astro-accessories, amongst many other things.

Most important, enjoy the night sky and use this website as a springboard to further your own amateur astronomy interest.
